about E-180
E-180 is currently a Montreal-based blog on consensual education, social entrepreneurship and social media. Ultimately, E-180 will become a social enterprise, a matchmaking website where people can jumpstart their learning by finding and meeting great mentors. For free.
We will be launching our beta application in September 2009.
Vision
E-180 is a place where people reclaim and redefine their own education, where all human beings develop their own potential and contribute to the development of other’s. We envision a world where everyone’s a mentor.
Mission
Our objective is to unleash people’s ability to educate one another and utilize their communities to develop their full potential. E-180 is not that room where you used to go when you talked too much in school: it’s the place where education is being turned around. It’s where education doesn’t belong to the institutions, but to the people. It’s the place you go to define what you want to learn, what you want to share, where, and who you are going to meet to do so.
What we do
We are planning a revolution, a coup against institutionalized knowledge-sharing as the only model of education. How are we going to do that? By creating an online community where people in search of an education on a particular topic or skill are matched with mentors who are eager to share their knowledge. « Education is not a preparation to life but life itself » said Dewey. We couldn’t agree more.
Life itself can now be channeled with E-180, an online social network where people can meet virtually, share knowledge in person, rate each others and earn points to learn more!
